Retirement Drift

“I’ll be fine. I have my boat.”
That’s what a recently retired friend said when I asked what his plans were.

But after a washout Memorial Day weekend here in New England…
the marinas were empty.

No boats.
No plans.
No backup structure.
And it got me thinking:

What does a Tuesday in November look like when the boat is wrapped in shrink wrap and sitting in dry dock?

What happens after the Netflix binge?
After the boat season ends?
After the vacations?
After the summer plans wear off?

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿… 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲:

Rhythm.
Structure.
Purpose.
A reason to get out of bed.

Then retirement arrives… and suddenly the Outlook calendar disappears overnight.

Research shows retirees watch an average of nearly 48 hours of TV a week.
Not because people are lazy.

𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁.

This is one of the biggest retirement challenges no one prepares for:
What will anchor your week when work no longer does?

At Retirement Fitness™, this is the work we do together.
Not just planning financially for retirement… but designing structure, routines, social connection, physical vitality, and purpose BEFORE the transition happens.

Because retirement isn’t just about what you’re retiring from.
It’s about what’s going to pull you forward- especially on a cold Tuesday in New England in the middle of November.

Should we get rid of the word “retirement”?
